Go into Firefox and repeat steps 1 and 2 this time Enable Adobe Acrobat. You have relieved the wailing and gnashing of teeth in my house!! Please see here for some basic trouble shooting of Flash under firefox. Generally, you will need the latest version installed on your computer to properly access Flash content, including videos on Youtube.
This is so darned frustrating. It worked like a charm. I went to Adobe and found uninstall instructions and in the process of trying to uninstall Flash, I'm trying to delete all the files in the c:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash folder. Been searching for a fix for this too. It is probably corrupted and this is preventing the proper installation of the latest Flash player. Perfect!!! I'm running Firefox 26 and am trying to install Flash version 11.9.900.152.

Here is what the window looks like. None of the searches I've done have turned up any helpful information, neither has Adobe support or any of the troubleshooting info... Now close anything that looks like it's associated with mozilla, ie or flash and try the installer again. My last flash player update did the same thing and after about 2 weeks the update finally installed correctly.
